Worship Services

Morning Worship 11:00 AM

(Communion is celebrated on the 1st Sunday of each month)

Worship is at the heart of our lives as Christians and is the center from which all other activities must flow. The beautiful worship space of Gilwood Church and the attention given to the liturgies and music of the Church, work together to provide rich soil for spiritual growth.

Our worship service is a traditional service which includes hymns, prayers of thanksgiving and intercession, God’s Word, and sacrament. As Presbyterians, we honor our liturgical and musical traditions.

We practice open Communion on the first Sunday of each month, and we invite all who believe in Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior to join us around the Lord’s table where we are forgiven of our sins and called to join in God’s new covenant of grace, and reconciliation.

Wednesday Night Revive

We offer a contemporary service called “Wednesday Night Revive” at 6:00 p.m. in our Fellowship Building.  Matt Stratford and his team lead an uplifting praise service with contemporary hymns, special music and sharing of prayer concerns and praise reports. Pastor Chaz leads the group in prayer and in the study of God’s Word. Join us for a midweek “revival” of your body and spirit.

Children in Worship

Children are an important part of our church, and worship is no exception.  We welcome children of all ages in worship and encourage them to take an active role in the service.

  • The Acolyte program is open to children 8 years old or older.
  • There is a nursery available during the service.
  • We currently offer Children’s Church which seeks to educate our young worshipers.

Sunday School

The Christian Education Committee invites everyone in the community to join us on Sunday mornings for the launch of our new “Sunday School” program, beginning this Sunday, September 8th. Each Sunday, coffee and snacks will be provided at 9:45. Sunday Groups for all ages will begin at 10 am. Adult groups will end by 10:30-10:40, and children’s classes will end at 10:45. Please prayerfully consider joining us in a group and inviting others for this very special time to grow closer in our Christian faith with our community.

Kindergarten – 1st Grade: The K-1 class meets in Room 109 and is following the Engage curriculum, beginning with 13 lessons from September to December from the Old Testament and shifting to 13 lessons in the winter and spring on the New Testament. This age group actively reads from the Bible, practicing reading and interpretation skills, and then brings those ideas to life through discussion and hands-on activities. This group asks big faith questions all while having a blast!

Teens: All teens grades 7 through 12 are invited to join us in the Youth Room of the Fellowship Hall for a class designed for discussions of faith with adolescents and young adults. In the fall, teens will start with a study about joy, have opportunities to get to know each other, and begin to plan for future youth retreats. This is a great class for a teenager to connect with others! Teachers: Bobbie, Jamerson

Adult Group 1 – Pathfinders: The Pathfinders group meets in the Chapel and welcomes all adults. They follow the Standard Lesson Commentary Series and take deep dives and discussion into the scripture. Teachers: Chuck and Danny
